Natural Hemorrhoid Treatments
Below are a list of a few simple home remedies for hemorrhoids.
The best hemorrhoid treatments address both the internal and external causes. Here are some basic things that you do at home to help treat your hemorrhoids naturally:
There are many natural astringents that can reduce hemorrhoid swelling and ease your suffering: Try applying cotton pads soaked with Witch-Hazel, this is commonly found at any grocery store or drug store (near the band aids and such). They also make pads and suppositories that work very well.
Try consuming fiber-rich foods such as Psyllium husks (in the health food section). These will help soften your stool making it easier to go to the bathroom. This will lessen the irritation of existing hemorrhoids and prevent new formations.
Since I suffered from hypertension (high blood pressure), I raised my legs with the help of pillows when I was laying down. Don’t be afraid to use the technique when you sleep at night. It really helped to reduce the hemorrhoid swelling and I found it worked best for me.
Ice pack. Yep, just like when you strain your ankle. This will reduce hemorrhoid swelling, ease the pain and even help soothe the itching. Try to use this at least 15 to 20 minutes (no longer as the ice can damage the skin).
Try using non-alcohol based baby wipes instead of rough toilet paper. This will help keep from irritating the area and they clean better than plain toilet paper.
There are many herbs and root extracts that can help reduce swelling and are readily available at your local health food or grocery store. Butchers Broom, Horse-chestnut, and Bilberry extract are all commonly used to aid in treating hemorrhoids.
We have included links to them below at Amazon in case you can’t find them near you. Could I make it any easier?
